Snowboy Hi-Hat: True Jazz Dance Sessions [Audio CD] Various Artists

This is a selection of highlights from Snowboy's The Hi Hat (which has also toured around the world at various points). Due to the nature of the compilation, it obviously makes energetic listening with drums, whistles, jazz horns and Latin percussion vying for attention. Dionne Warwick kicks things off with the intensely high-energy "Caravan" and is followed by the slightly calmer "Cabo Frio" by Pete Escovedo and the vocal-led Brazilian cut "Upa Neguinho" by Duke Pearson. After that we are offered a whole range of high calibre sounds from the likes of Horace Siilver ("Not Enough Mama"), Snowboy himself ("Casa Forte"), Grupo X("Brand New Love") and Jon Lucien ("A Time For Me To Fly") among others. You'll need strong shoes. --Paul Sullivan
